Holy Week for Families

cross for Lent

The pinnacle of the Lent season is Holy Week. This is the week we reflect on Jesus’ last days before the crucifixion. My family has always attended services for Maundy Thursday and Good Friday as we look forward to Easter morning. Below are more ideas your family may wish to use this week:

Strip the House

As you do a little cleaning before Easter, you may wish to strip down the extra decorative touches. Put away the flowers and take off the table cloths. This will make the house seem clean and bare. Then, on Easter morning, bring out all the goodies! With Easter baskets, flowers, and bright colors, you will have a visual reminder of the abundant grace that flooded the world that first Easter.

Holy Week Activities

I found a blogger, Joyful Mama, who has some unique (and not too complicated) you and your family can step through the week together. Joyful Mama’s Holy Week activities for families

More Holy Week Activities

Another blog, House of Hendrix, also lists some family activities, such as making palm crosses and crowns of thorns. House of Hendrix Holy Week activities for families

Holy Week Passport

An interesting idea, the Holy Week Passport helps children understand what happens between Palm Sunday and Easter. Would be great for churches!

Plenty More Ideas

You know Pinterest is covered in ideas for Holy Week. You can find more ideas at my board. Feel free to send me suggestions for more to pin on my board.

Whatever you decide to do or not to do, be sure to let your family know about the very first Easter, when Jesus showed Himself raised from the dead. It’s important that Jesus be the center of this Holy Week.
